The One With The Sadness

I feel replaced by, well, everyone.

I know this is not true, but it's just the way I feel.

I've been hurt today by one person in particular more than I have ever been hurt by someone in my entire life.

And here's the sad thing, I NEVER thought this person would be the one to do it.

Fuck you.

The One With The HELL NO!

Proposition 2 on the statewide ballot next month would prevent state judges from overturning current law banning gay marriage. Given that state judges in Texas are elected, and therefore answerable to the people, the chances of a judge doing so are about as good as the Texas Supreme Court outlawing barbecue, so this proposed amendment essentially uses a sledgehammer to kill a mosquito.

Still, if that were all Proposition 2 did, it might be easier to support.

But Proposition 2 goes beyond protecting the definition of marriage. The real impact of Proposition 2 will be to throw into question the legality of other sorts of contracts affecting gay Texans, many of them widely supported by society as a whole.

It is for this reason that I recommend a "no" vote on Proposition 2.

The first part of the proposed constitutional amendment says that marriage "consists only of the union of one man and one woman." Fair enough. That's already state law and has been since the state Legislature adopted the Defense of Marriage Act in 2003.

The second part of the proposed amendment prohibits "any legal status identical or similar to marriage." This would seem to undermine the ability of gay couples to enter into any partnership whose benefits stem from a recognized relationship. This is a problem.

A big problem.

Dallas and Travis counties provide certain health benefits to the partners and families of gay workers. So do hundreds of jurisdictions elsewhere in Texas and across the country. An amendment outlawing "any legal status ... similar to marriage" seems to subject these benefit plans to legal challenge. For what gain?

Proponents of this amendment argue that it won't affect private contracts between gays, and they cite language that was part of the resolution referring this issue to the ballot as proof that the intent behind the amendment isn't to undermine private contracts. But that language doesn't appear on the ballot. (The sorts of contracts we're referring to include arrangements to assure gays visitation rights when a partner is hospitalized, the ability to make the same sort of health care decisions for incapacitated partners as married partners, etc.)

In fact, the state House expressly rejected an effort to clarify the amendment's effect on private contracts when it voted 96-44 earlier this year against including on the ballot a provision stating that the amendment "may not be construed to prohibit the recognition of any contractual relationship currently available."

We doubt most Texans want to make it more difficult for gays to visit loved ones in the hospital or the like. These and other private contracts are already largely accepted by society – and even considered good for business. Thirty-eight of the Fortune 50 companies offer benefits to same-sex couples. Four of North Texas' largest private employers added domestic partner benefits last year.

Proponents say Proposition 2 is about protecting marriage and promoting family values. That may be, at least in their minds, but the unavoidable fact is that this amendment would make it significantly more difficult for gays to protect the health and well-being of their loved ones.

Why on earth deny to these men and women, not special privileges, but ordinary human decencies?

I recommend a "no" vote.

THE BALLOT LANGUAGE
"The constitutional amendment providing that marriage in this state consists only of the union of one man and one woman and prohibiting this state or a political subdivision of this state from creating or recognizing any legal status identical or similar to marriage ."

The One With The Hug

I was doing some surfing around this amazing little thing we call the internet and found a few old sites I once had running. On one of them, I found my award-winning poem from 8th grade called "Hugs".

It came in third in the HBO Family Channel's Express Your Heart campaign.

Here's a link proving it! http://www.hbofamily.com/eyh/eyh_written.html

And here's the poem:

There's something in a simple hug
That always warms the heart;
It welcomes us back home
And makes it easier to part.

A hug's a way to share the joy
And sad times we go through,
Or just a way for friends to say
They like you 'cause you're you.

Hugs are meant for anyone
For whom we really care;
From your Grandma to your neighbor,
Or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing.
It's just the perfect way
To show the love you're feeling
But can't find the words to say.

It's funny how a simple hug
Makes everyone feel good;
In every place and language,
It's always understood.

And hugs don't need new equipment,
Special batteries or parts.
Just open up your arms
And open up your hearts.

--March 13, 2002

Enclosed below is the letter I received with my prize from the contest.
May 29, 2002

Colin Bice
4224 --- Rd
Fort Worth, TX -----

Dear Prize Winner

CONGRATULATIONS! We are pleased to announce that you are one of the Written Category Finalists in HBO's Express Your Heart Competition. The prize you have won is: A one-year subscription to Teen People and Cartier Pen And Stationary set.

We will proceed to make arrangements to have your prize send to you at the address indicated above. If this address has changed, please advise us as soon as possible. It will take approximately ninety (90) to one hundred twenty (120) days from the date of this letter to complete arrangements for your prize.

It is not possible to substitute another prize for the one you have won. Prizes can be awarded only as indicated in the contest rules. Any tax liability is the sole repsonsibility of the prize winner.

On behalf of HBO, we thank you for entering their competition and hope that you will enjoy your prize.

Cordially,

D. L. BLAIR, INC.

[signature]
Donna Andreasen
Client Services
888-352-5247

DA/cl

The odd thing is that my subsription has never ceased. I've been getting free Teen People magazines for a number of years now. Am I one to complain? No.

Hello, friends, family, comrades,
rebels, insurgents, refugees,
exiles, ex-patriots,
people in hiding,
and all the ships at sea.
I've debated on whether or not I should say this.
I wondered if it would do any good.

I have profound fears for the future;
deep anger and sadness for my country.
Our country.
Our country that's been stolen away from us.
Captured by those who traffic fear
and hatred and bigotry and poison.
I feel like we're lost in the forest right now.
We're down the rabbit hole and there's no end in sight.

I know you all feel the same sentiments.
The rage against the unanswerable abyss;
the terror of what lies ahead;
the confusion of what this nation has become.
I will not attempt to glide over the monumental disaster
that was this election.
There's no silver lining.
There's no redemption.
The illusion of hope in this last year
has been mercilessly stripped away.

The monster we face is now unleashed.
And free to wreak havoc
and spill the blood of the innocent.
We're in a dark place...
perhaps the darkest place.
Unable to even conceive the idea of light.
But we have been in such midnight moments before.

We have been in the pits of Vietnam
and the hanging trees of Jim Crow.
We have despaired on the cottonfields of Mississippi
and the bread lines of the depression.
We've been beaten down by crooked cops
and pushed around by factory bosses.
And terrorized by the Klan
and the fascists and the Nazis
and cheating politicians and wicked masters.

We have never surrendered.
We have never weakened or wavered.
Did we surrender at Kent State? Jackson State?
No.
Did we surrender at hay-markets?
No.
In the textiles mills of Pennsylvania?
In the coal mines of Colorado?
In the meatpacking plants of Chicago?
At the "pro-choice" rallies?
At the "equal rights for women" marches?
At the anti-war demonstrations?
At the strikes? The walkouts?
At the bus boycotts?
No.
No.

No!

Remember we have history on our side.
We have the march for progress.
The struggle for what is right;
and good; and pure;
and free; and equal;
and just; and beautiful.

We have the raised fist of every fighter.
We have the power of the powerless.
We have the moral clarity of the dispossessed.
We are the heart and soul
of the struggle and battle that never ends.

Look to the heroes.
We are the inheritors of a proud past
populated by giants; heroes;
artists; revolutionaries;
thinkers; believers in mankind;
defenders of the oppressed.

We have the pen of Walt Whitman, Hemingway;
the determination of Cesar Chavez;
the faith of Martin and Malcolm;
the beauty of Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington;
the strength of Roosevelt and Kennedy;
the joy of Mark Twain.

The history of America
has been written by us.
It does not belong to fear mongers,
the puppeteers, the rich, the greedy;
the theocrats, and the mullahs.

They twist the constitution
but we make it straight.
They wrap themselves in the flag.
We fight for the freedoms,
not the fabric.
They shout out their pledges of allegiance
but we do the dirty work of democracy.
They claim to represent the real America
but we are the keepers of the tree of liberty.

It ain't over yet folks.
Not by a long shot.
So, cry a few tears.
And bang against the walls.
And scream it to the wind.
Then collect yourself.

Get back to work.
It's time to punch the clock.

The battle for America has begun.

This was taken from an amazingly haunting short film about the world we live in.
Well, well, well. BIG BROTHER 6 has come to an end. I miss it already. I'm having genuine withdrawals. Maggie came out victorious, sadly. Here's how the vote went down:

Ashlea Evans did not make the jury, being the first evicted.
Michael Donnellan did not make the jury, being the second evicted.
Eric Littmann (aka "Crappy") did not make the jury, being the third evicted.
Kaysar Ridha (aka "King Kaysar") did not make the jury, being the fourth and sixth evicted.
Sarah Hrejsa did not make the jury, being the fifth evicted.
Jennifer Vasquez (aka "J-Blo") voted for Maggie to win the game.
Rachel Plencner voted for Maggie to win the game.
James Rhine voted for Ivette to win the game.
Beau Beasley (aka "Waste Of Human Flesh") voted for Ivette to win the game.
Howie Gordon (aka "Hurricane Howie") voted for Maggie to win the game.
April Lewis (aka "Apeshit" or "Busto") voted for Maggie to win the game.
Janelle Pierzina (aka "Janey Doll") voted for Ivette to win the game.
Ivette Corredero (aka "Evilette") came in 2nd, winning $50,000.
Maggie Ausburn (aka "Maggot") won BIG BROTHER 6 by a 4-3 vote and took home the $500,000 prize.

Congratulations to everyone at CBS/AA/Endemol and BB6 for a great season!

Please check out my video tribute to the eight good players from BB6:
Ashlea, Michael, Kaysar, Sarah, Rachel, James, Howie, and Janelle!
The One With The Disgusting Sandwich

Good evening. Today is a lovely day indeed...and here's how it went down.

Before School - Cafeteria
As usual, Jordan and I arrive hoping to avoid Sarah as much as humanly possible. Usually it works, I think she may be catching on! 7am rolls around and I'm off to the [breakfast] line to purchase my usual brownie and water. Although, this time, it was a real splurge! Jordan came with! To by Zebra Cake-like things, which I also got in addition to my brownie and water goodness. Taylor made his usual appearance and delighted us with his hot-as-hell pants. Seriously, I wanted to rip them off and frame them. They were hot. Bree also stopped by. She's under the slight impression that we don't want her there. Well, we don't but, I love her. She's a great kid and means no harm, so I tell her she is more than welcome to sit with me. I love the damn kid! Well, 7:20 rolls around and WE'RE OFF!

First Period - Concert Choir
Is it weird that I'm falling in love with my teacher? Yes? Oh well, then. Moving on. You know, choir is pretty much choir. Our songs are CHING A RING CHAW and ALL YE WHO MUSIC LOVE. The guys have a song called SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY, which is quite the beautiful song. I love it.

Second Period - Recordkeeping
Aside from the fact that I'm about to kill Ms Ely for lying to me and my mom, I had a pretty good time. Chris and I do our usual flirting. It's really quite fun. Rhiannon delighted me with her presence. Nick annoyed the living shit out of me. You see, every time he has nothing to say, he says "Don't be so violent, guys". I'm about to kick his ass. Ugh. About done here.

Third Period - US History
Let's skip to after school, huh?

After School - Subway, McDonalds, Starbucks, Albertson's
Lerin has emblazoned her brand on our lovely day. I enjoy the broad. Really a quality hoot, compared to the average hoot. We went to McDonalds to get Lerin some food, then Subway for Jo and I. I get what Jordan calls "disgusting", completely to my delight. It's the Club on Italian bread. Lettuce, pickles, black olives, American cheese, and ranch. God I love it. We had our fun there. Then it was over to Starbucks, Jordan got herself a Passion Shaken Iced Tea Lemonade. Quite tasty. We chitted and chatted about cell phones, love, and other things of interest to material teens such as our selves. Meh. Over to Albertson's! Jordan needed some makeup. Hmm...why do I feel 100% comfortable with that. Most guys are only about 68.3% on board with that. Interesting. Lauren was there manhandling the self-checkout nonsense. I think that bitch has something up her sleeve. Stay tuned.

Later
My summer officially comes to a close tonight with the finale of BIG BROTHER 6. It's down to two pieces of worthless shit knows as Ivette (aka "Evilette") and Maggie (aka "Maggot"). I was rooting for Maggot, but my mind has changed. I'm worried that some of her prize money may be given to her partner, Crappy. I don't want that to happen. So, Ivette should win. Sad, yes. Standable, hardly. My Janey Doll--Janelle--came in third, which is a real shame. I loved her so incredibly much! Here's to you, Janey!

Janelle "Janey Doll" Perzina

Pat Robertson on Sunday said that Hurricane Katrina was God’s way of expressing its anger at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its selection of Ellen Degeneres to host this year’s Emmy Awards. "By choosing an avowed lesbian for this national event, these Hollywood elites have clearly invited God’s wrath,"..."America is waiting for her to apologize for the death and destruction that her sexual deviance has brought onto this great nation."
WHAT THE FUCK?!

The One With The Triumphant Return To LJ

Hello everyone! I've missed you, yes! So, where the hell do I begin?! I've decided to make my journal a bit more personal (with the bits of BB, IDOL, Kimberley, and such still in tact). So. Here we go!

School is going okay. First period is choir and I love it and hate it. I love the teacher (hot) and I hate the classmates (except for Ally and Keith). Keith and I have been in varsity choir for quite some time together. He wants to start a gospel choir which would be really cool I think. He's got an amazing voice for it. He reminds me of Kirk Franklin. Ally is a sweet girl who I adore to death. We had English last year and she's been nothing but spectacular to me. Second period is recordkeeping with Ms Ely. I love her. She has an amazing sense of humor and really reminds me of Tina Fey from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Rhiannon Irvin is in there, which is beyond fabulous! I love that girl more than she knows. She's beyond brilliant! Also, there's Bryan Renfro who is madly in love with me. But, we won't go there...even though I just did. Third period is US History with Coach Dennard. I like Coach most of the time. When he's talking to me one-on-one, he shows that he has this love and passion for history and he has a great heart. He can be a hard-ass, but it's all in good fun. Most of the other students hate him, oh well. Haley Hamilton is in there and I just want to eat her! She's so amazingly cute and funny. I have B Lunch with Alexi Ashbrook! You guys know I love her! Fourth period. Oh god. Fourth period. This class is Geometry with Ms Michael. She's awesome, even though she's a SMU fan. RA RA TCU! RA RA TCU! The kids in that class...DRIVE ME UP THE MOTHER LOVING WALL!!! I can hardly stand it. But, whatever. That's life. After school is where my day ends fabulously! I get to spend a good two hours with my JoKo! I love her SO incredibly much! She makes everything swell and splendid. Bad days become fabulous days with Jo! "It's a lovely holiday with Jordan! Jordan makes the day so bright!" :D She understands that one. LOVE YA, JO!

For those inquiring about my lovely little injury last Tuesday, here's the details. I was standing in the hall before third period with Jo and Ben Rogers. Kristal Anderson comes up behind me and kicks the back of my right knee, and most of you know I've had a bit o' trouble with that knee. Well, my knee buckles and I'm falling to the ground. My knee popped three times and was extremely painful for the first three minutes. Some teacher (I don't know who), called the nurse and Ms Pentacost came down the hall with the wheelchair. We meet again! Jordan walks with us down to the nurse's office and then she's off. I went to the doctor and I most likely have torn my cartilage around my knee. I have a MRI coming up Wednesday and that will determine the trouble. If it is torn cartilage, I will have to have surgery. Keep your fingers crossed for jesseBOI!

What else? I guess I can bring up TCU. As I'm sure most of you have heard...TCU BEAT THE #7 OKLAHOMA SOONERS 17-10!!! The next weekend, they lose to SMU 30-14. Don't ask. It's a very touchy subject for me. But, I'm still a Horned Frog fan for life! :D TCU, SO TRIED AND TRUE, I PLEDGE ETERNAL LOYALTY!!!

BIG BROTHER 6. What can I say? Janelle is my girl. I'm madly in love! She's up against three witches who are part of the "Friendship"/"Fiendsheep"/"Nerd Herd"/"Turd Herd"/"Pieces Of Shit" alliance that started with Eric aka "Cappy"/"Crappy". But, she's the current Head of Household and is holding strong. I'm so proud of her! :D SO JANEY!!!

CANADIAN IDOL 3. All my true favorites are gone. This sucks but the finale is Wednesday. It's down to Melissa O'Neil and Rex Goudie. GO MELISSA!!! I'm pulling for the first female Canadian Idol!!! Jacob Hoggard and Hedley were on the results show last week and holy shit. It was hot. You should really see it! Let me know! Kalan Porter and Theresa Sokyrka will be at the finale! I'm SO there!

CHICK-A-BABE IDOL 3. It's down to four. Amye, Christina, Jordan and Tiffany. Who will win? I already know. I've made my decision and the top three episode will premiere Friday! BE THERE! http://chickidol.mirrorz.com/ Check out all the fun. The top four episode is still available.

AND! How could I go without mentioning the lovely Kimberley Locke. No real updates except that a documentary about her is running on GSN. Catch it! It's well worth it!

And I'm off! I love you all! Kisses!

xoxo
Jess

The One With The Stolen Ruby Slippers

For those of you wondering how my IDOL audition went, I didn't make it. Moving on. lol

BEST WEEK EVER has a blog and it's right here on LJ! That's right folks! Today's entry, about the latest happenings around Hollywood got me giggling. Enjoy.

Mr. T to star in "Rocky VI", will probably train Rocky in the art of "pitying fools".

Pair of ruby slippers from "Wizard of Oz" stolen. Witnesses report there is an ugly green-skinned woman heading west. Brilliant!

"It never crossed my mind that if I were thinner, I would get more jobs" says Teri Hatcher, proving that you don't have to be young and blonde to be stupid.

Paris Hilton is mad at her sister Nicky for agreeing to be a bridesmaid in Nicole Richie's wedding. So you know whose video will be playin' at the bachelorette party.

Gwyneth Paltrow offers advice to Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. This is of course coming from the person who named her daughter Apple.

Two California beach cities fighting over the name "Surf City". Fight will begin to get nasty, but then issues will be resolved over surfing duel that ends up being a good-natured clambake. Love it!

"A 30-kilogram fish will never jump out of the ocean and land on me, especially while I am standing here in this boat", mused the boy. "Thats what you think", murmured God.

For those of you with questions and concerns, question and concern no more!

Early Tuesday morning, my dad and I will venture towards Austin. More specifically, the basketball coliseum at the UT campus. We will get registered and everything. We will receive our wristbands. And such. We will come back to Fort Worth that afternoon. Some of you may get to see me during 4th period, where I will be located in Mrs Gray's classroom. BE THERE!

I will attend school on Wednesday, as usual.

And early Thursday morning, we will go down to Austin again to attend the actual auditions. I will be singing "Tainted Love", more than likely. "Why?", might you ask. Well, you see, they're looking for something unique and original, as all should. And I think that song it the most unique/suitable song for my voice. If you have any other serious suggestions, let me know.

I'll be back early Friday morning. And I'll attend school that day and you'll all get to hear about the sheer and utter excitement that is me going to Hollywood! WHOO!!!

For more info on the award-winning auditions, check out http://www.idolonfox.com/.
The One With The Worst Day Ever

I've been crying all day. Around 8am, I started feeling like I was going to pass out. I was sweating more than I ever have in my entire life. Everytime I stood up, I felt like I was going to die. In choir, Mr Y told us all to stand up and Ms Fambrough starts chewing me out because I couldn't physically stand up. I just couldn't. And she ripped me apart in front of everyone. If I had the energy, I would have been crying. Once I got to second period, Ms Ely took one look at me and told me to go to the nurse. She asked if I had been in PE or something because my face was extremely red and my hair was soaked. It took me like an hour to convince my mom to take me home. She finally did. Once I got home, I texted Jordan to tell her that I wouldn't be there after school and she seemed upset with me. I hope not! After about an hour, I started to feel a little better so I decided to get up and get a drink of water. I started walking down the stairs and my legs just collapsed. I'm surprised I didn't fall down the stairs. I fell asleep around 4pm and I just got up. Luckily, I'm feeling better. But, wow...I've never been so scared. I know it's not true but I feel like I have no friends at all. I feel alone. I'm going to shut up now.

PS. Aren't you glad I finally wrote about my feelings for once?!

The One With The Prayers

I would like to take this post to honor ABC News' lead anchor, Peter Jennings. He passed away Sunday afternoon after complications of lung cancer. My thoughts are with Peter's family, friends, and collegues tonight. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts are also with the astronauts of the Discovery shuttle, who I hope and pray landed safely home at 5:22am central time over Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Be safe.

The One With The Justified Revenge & New Schedule

PLEASE do this for me! It would take like five seconds. Do it online. The text costs $.49.

If you do it, I will be ghetto happy!!!

Just leave it up for a few moments. It will vote for Kaysar more, the longer you leave it on there.

Just click the pic! There has never been a better player of the game than Kaysar has been. Plus, the look on Evilette's face and Maggot's when they see K walk back in and learn that America actually HATES Eric. That will be timeless. You see, Ivette/Maggie are stupid bitches. They think that America will vote Eric (aka "Cappy" or "Crappy") back in. HA!

Thanks! I love you!

Got my lovely schedule for what would have been my senior year.
The One With The KVIL Luncheon

Alrighty. I tried SO hard to go to the KVIL luncheon with Kimberley Locke last Saturday. You had to win a contest through the morning show, GENE AND JULIE that Kim was a guest on Thursday morning. I called at LEAST 50 times. I'm sure Julie hates me now. She answered each time lol. (On that note, I'm sure Mary from KVIL Late Nite hates me too! I call her every night to ask her to play I COULD. But she's sweet about it!) Anyway, I didn't get to go but they finally put the pics up on KVIL.com! So here are a few of my favorites!

Kim, Greg from GREG AND JULIE, and her hairstylist Ryan.

Kimmie explaining how tough it is being perfect to Greg. lol

Quite possibly my favorite Kim pic of all time!

You can see all the rest here:
http://www.kvil.com/photos/KimberlyLockeLuncheon(7-30-05)/index.htm

Later!

The One With The Second Weekly Rant

You know what I hate? People who say "Having your own vote/opinion is what makes this country great!"

No.

First, there are VERY few things that make this country great.

Second, what would make this country great is if all the votes/opinions were all liberal. 'Nuff said.

Thank you.

The One With The Kimberley Locke Meeting

I MET THE KIMBERLEY LOCKE!!! Okay, guys. I didn't get to spend much time there because I had other things to do that day. Kinda sad. Anyway, I didn't get to do anything with her other than get her autograph and tell her what she means to me. My mom talked to her first and got an autograph for JoKo and then said "My son is a HUGE fan of yours and honestly, sometimes I get sick hearing about you." That made Kimmie release her fabulous laugh!!! I love it! Once I went up there Kim thanked me for being a big fan and she told me that she thought I had "gorgeous hair" and that she wishes her's could be that full. I was SO flattered! I GOT A COMPLIMENT FROM KIMBERLEY!!! AHH!!! She signed the promo photo and then she signed my FIGURE mag. This is the third time I've seen her in person but only the first time I've ever had a chance to talk to her. Wow. Hehe. Alright. PICS!!!

AHH!!!
The One With The Thoughts

Okay. If I was on BIG BROTHER, here's what I would be doing. I would have an alliance of about six people. No more, no less. If I was to win the coveted Head Of Household position (which would give me the responsibility to nominate two other houseguests for eviction), I would nominate two of my allies. Hear me out. Now...every week there is the Power Of Veto competition (in which the winner gets the opportunity to remove one of the two nominees from the chopping block, all while remaining immune). Each of the nominees and the HoH choose one other houseguests to play the PoV competition. Those six playing would be my allies and myself. This would guarantee us to win PoV. We would remove one of the nominees off and place the one houseguest we want out up in replacement. Then, that houseguest would go. This plan would completely prevent the possibility of my choice for eviction to remove themselves and win PoV. Of course, I would have to make sure I have the numbers on my side, but whatever.

Edit: I have a slight remembrance of this happening. I believe Nakomis of BIG BROTHER 5 tried this but I don't think it worked. I could be wrong. That was the season I payed least attention to.

And now it's time for my rant of the week.
Wildfires are burning in a few spots across the country. People are fleeing from their endangered homes. Here's my problem. While I hope that absolutely nothing destructive happens to these peoples' homes, I have very little sympathy for them. Nature's way of we building itself is by burning itself. It's a scientific fact, believe me. They have put their homes in harm's way. If people didn't build houses there, wildfires would not be a problem. They would burn and that would be that. Putting out the fires does nothing but worsen our environment. I don't know why I felt the need to bring this up but it is something that makes me look at certain people and wonder how they can be so naive. Whatever. Later, foos! And, please don't call me some self-righteous moron. I'm not.
